What CHIRP is

CHIRP lets you send a five-second voice Chirp to people you already know. There is no public profile, no feed and no directory. Nobody can find you by browsing CHIRP.

What we keep

  • Your email address, so you can sign in.
  • Your phone number, verified by text, so friends can find you.
  • Your name and photo, shown only to contacts you accept.
  • Your Chirps, for up to 24 hours.
  • Who you are connected to, and who you have blocked or muted.

Your contacts

When you choose to look for friends, your phone asks your permission first. CHIRP checks the numbers you picked against people who are already on CHIRP and then forgets them. We do not upload or store your address book, and we never contact anyone on your behalf unless you tap Invite.

Your Chirps

Chirps are stored privately. Only you and the person you sent it to can hear a Chirp. Chirps expire 24 hours after they are sent and are no longer available for playback. CHIRP automatically removes expired Chirps from its active systems on a scheduled basis. Limited technical records or backup copies may persist temporarily where required for security, reliability, recovery, or service operations before being deleted according to applicable retention processes. Nobody at CHIRP listens to your Chirps.

Alerts

If you turn alerts on, we store a device token for your phone so we can tell you a Chirp arrived. The alert never contains the sound of the Chirp. Muted and blocked people can never trigger an alert.

What we never do

We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we do not share your number with other people on CHIRP unless you are connected.

Who helps us run CHIRP

Lovable Cloud provides the hosting, the database and the private storage your Chirps and photo sit in. Twilio Verify sends the text that checks your number. Alerts are delivered by Apple, by Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging, or by your browser’s own push service. Each one only handles what that job needs. CHIRP has no analytics, no crash tracking, no advertising trackers, and nothing listens to or processes your Chirps.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from Settings inside CHIRP. We ask you to confirm first. When you confirm, your sign-in, your name and photo, the Chirps you have sent and received along with their sound files, your connections, and your blocks and mutes are removed. This happens right away, so a Chirp you sent can become unavailable to the other person before its 24 hours are up — account deletion is separate from the normal 24-hour expiry. As above, removal from our active systems runs on a schedule, and limited technical records or backup copies may persist temporarily. Afterwards the same email address and phone number can be used to start a new account. If you would rather ask us, write to support@chirpchirpapp.com.
